
Dhaka, May 10: In an exciting first Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, young Pakistani batsman Azaan Awais achieved a remarkable milestone. On the third day of the match, Awais scored a century in his debut Test, becoming the 14th Pakistani player to do so.
Starting the day with a score of 85, the 21-year-old left-handed batsman completed his first Test century by taking a single off Naheed Rana in the 51st over. However, his innings came to an end shortly after, as he was dismissed for 103 runs off 165 balls, hitting 14 boundaries. Awais formed crucial partnerships, scoring 106 runs for the first wicket with Imam-ul-Haq and 104 runs for the second wicket with Abdullah Fazal.
Notable players who have scored centuries on their Test debuts for Pakistan include Khalid Ibadiullah (166 runs in 1964 against Australia), Javed Miandad (163 runs in 1976 against New Zealand), and more recently, Azaan Awais (103 runs in 2026 against Bangladesh).
As for the match, in response to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 413 runs, Pakistan has managed to score 310 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 81.2 overs. Salman Ali Agha remains unbeaten at 44, while Mohammad Rizwan is not out at 35.
