New Delhi, August 9: On the 84th anniversary of the August Revolution, also known as the Quit India Movement, several prominent leaders paid tribute to freedom fighters on Saturday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan were among those honoring the sacrifices made by these heroes. The movement, which began on August 9, 1942, is considered one of the largest mass uprisings in India’s struggle for independence. Mahatma Gandhi’s call for “Do or Die” during this movement shook the foundations of British rule.
Home Minister Amit Shah expressed on social media, “The ‘Quit India Movement,’ initiated at Mahatma Gandhi’s call, is a historic chapter in our freedom struggle that united the nation and instilled the resolve of ‘Do or Die’ against British rule. I pay my respects to all immortal freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for our independence. This day of the August Revolution inspires us to prioritize national interest, embrace self-reliance, and realize the vision of a ‘Developed India.'”
Nitin Gadkari also took to social media, stating, “On this day in 1942, under Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership, Indians began the ‘Quit India Movement’ against the British. On this notable day of the August Revolution, I pay homage to the immortal martyrs who dedicated everything for our freedom.”
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan remarked, “The August Revolution is a historic chapter in our freedom struggle that ignited the flame of freedom and the resolve to fight among the people. On this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi’s call for ‘Do or Die’ initiated the Quit India Movement, which became a significant mass movement against foreign rule. I pay my respects to all immortal heroes who dedicated their lives for Mother India’s freedom. Their sacrifice, struggle, and valor will always be remembered by the nation.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote, “On the anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’ (August Revolution), I pay my humble tribute to all freedom fighters who dedicated everything to liberate Mother India from the shackles of slavery. The indomitable courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the heroes of the freedom struggle awakened national consciousness and provided a decisive direction to the independence movement.”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Yadav stated, “On the occasion of August Revolution Day, I pay my respects to all immortal revolutionaries and freedom fighters who dedicated everything for India’s freedom! Their struggle, patriotism, and unwavering resolve will always inspire us to protect the unity, integrity, and pride of our nation.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta noted, “The August Revolution was the roar of national resolve for Mother India’s freedom that shook the foundations of the British Empire. The mantra of ‘Do or Die’ and the call to ‘Quit India’ ignited the flame of freedom in every citizen. I pay my respects to countless national leaders who dedicated everything for our motherland on this August Revolution Day.”
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini extended heartfelt wishes to all citizens on the ‘August Revolution Day,’ recalling the glorious saga of the Quit India Movement. He noted that Mahatma Gandhi’s call for ‘Do or Die’ on this day in 1942 sparked an indomitable resolve for freedom among the people. This movement became a unique symbol of popular strength and patriotism in the struggle for India’s independence. I pay my respects to all immortal freedom fighters who sacrificed everything for our motherland’s freedom.”
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed, “On August Revolution Day, I pay my respects to all immortal brave freedom fighters who dedicated everything for Mother India’s freedom. Their indomitable courage, sacrifice, and valor will always inspire patriotism and service to the nation.”
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote, “On the anniversary of the Quit India Movement, I pay my respects to all immortal martyrs and great freedom fighters who dedicated everything for our country’s freedom. The Quit India Movement ignited the flame of freedom among the people and provided a decisive direction to the final struggle for independence. The sacrifice and courage of the heroes of this historic movement will always inspire us to serve the nation.”
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi stated, “On August Revolution Day, I pay my respects to the heroes who awakened the spirit of freedom in the country with the resolve of ‘Do or Die.'”
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde remarked, “August Revolution is a day that provided a decisive direction to the country’s freedom movement.
