Attack on BJP Leaders Clinic in Bathinda Raises Security Concerns

Bathinda, June 23: In a shocking incident, unknown assailants reportedly hurled a petrol bomb at the clinic of BJP leader and doctor Tarsem Garg in Bathinda, Punjab, just before Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visit on Wednesday. The attack has raised serious questions about law and order in the area, creating panic among residents.

According to initial reports, two masked individuals arrived outside Dr. Tarsem Garg’s Hahnemann Clinic. One of them allegedly ignited a petrol-filled bottle, while the other recorded the incident on a mobile phone. The burning bottle was then thrown inside the clinic, causing chaos among those present. Clinic staff raised alarms, prompting locals to gather at the scene.

Dr. Tarsem Garg stated that he has no personal enemies and has never received any threats. He expressed shock over the incident and urged police officials to identify the culprits.

Notably, Dr. Garg was previously associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and served as the secretary of the Punjab Trade Wing. However, he left AAP before the Bathinda municipal elections to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His clinic is located directly across from a prominent RSS office.

Following the attack, senior police officials arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. This incident has drawn the attention of senior authorities regarding security measures in Bathinda, especially with the Chief Minister’s visit scheduled for Wednesday.

SP City Narinder Singh confirmed that two unidentified individuals were involved in the attack. He mentioned that multiple police teams have been deployed to investigate the case, utilizing CCTV footage from the area to identify and apprehend the suspects. It is noteworthy that there have been previous bomb attacks near the Punjab BJP office, which sparked significant political controversy between the ruling party and the opposition.
