Assams Chief Minister Assures No Shortage of Fuel Amid Panic Buying

Guwahati, March 26: Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Wednesday that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the state. He urged residents not to panic and engage in excessive purchasing.

In a conversation with reporters, Sarma clarified that fuel supply is completely normal, and there is no need for concern. He emphasized, “There is ample availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG in Assam. There is no fear of any shortage.”

The Chief Minister noted that the central government has also confirmed during a multi-party meeting that there are no disruptions in fuel supply nationwide.

He appealed to the public to act responsibly, warning that unnecessary fuel hoarding could create an artificial shortage in the market. “I request people not to crowd at petrol pumps and to avoid stockpiling excessive fuel,” he added.

According to officials, the supply chain for petroleum products in Assam and the northeastern region remains stable, with oil companies regularly distributing fuel.

Concerns about fuel availability had led to increased demand at petrol pumps in recent days, but the administration has clarified that there are no interruptions in supply.

The state government is continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating with oil marketing companies to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply across the state.

Officials also warned that panic buying could create temporary pressure locally, even though overall stock levels are sufficient.

The Chief Minister urged residents to ignore rumors and maintain calm, stating there is no need to panic regarding fuel availability in the state.
