
Varanasi, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : The ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event, part of the Fit India Movement, took place in Varanasi on October 11, 2026. This initiative encourages cycling every Sunday to promote fitness and environmental awareness. Central Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attended as the chief guest, alongside athletes who recently won medals at the Asian Games.
Mandaviya officially launched the event by releasing balloons and then joined a large crowd for a cycling session. The gathering at Namoh Ghat featured cultural performances and honored athletes and notable participants who contributed to the event’s success.
The program attracted a diverse group of participants, including many young people. Its primary goals are to encourage fitness, promote environmental conservation, and raise awareness about fuel savings and obesity.
Speaking to the media, Minister Mandaviya expressed the importance of cycling as a fitness mantra. He noted that cycling not only serves as excellent exercise but also helps mitigate pollution and traffic issues. He emphasized that through ‘Sunday on Cycle,’ young people are spreading a message of fitness and supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India initiative.
