Ashwini Vaishnav Calls for Change at Rally in Shrirampur, West Bengal

Kolkata, March 7: During a significant rally in Shrirampur, West Bengal, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav urged the public to embrace change and support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in forming a government in the state. This event was part of the BJP’s ongoing transformation campaign.

Addressing the crowd, Vaishnav emphasized that Shrirampur, a site rich in cultural and intellectual heritage, should be the starting point for this change. He highlighted that the first newspaper in Bengal was published here, and it is home to one of Asia’s oldest colleges. Vaishnav also mentioned the world-renowned Mahesh Rath Yatra, which he recently attended, underscoring the need to protect Bengal’s cultural identity.

He expressed concerns about the future of traditional festivals like Durga Puja and Kali Puja, questioning whether they could be celebrated freely. Vaishnav accused the state government of inviting illegal immigrants, posing a threat to the state’s social and cultural fabric. He criticized the allocation of more budget for madrasa education over technical education, questioning if this was a betrayal of the youth who need modern skills.

Vaishnav condemned the rising corruption and violence against women, criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s suggestion that women should avoid going out at night. He called this remark shameful and questioned if this was the Bengal people envisioned. He urged the public to ensure a safe future for the next generations and to end vote-bank politics.

He alleged that beneficiaries of the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme were being extorted under the current government. Vaishnav lamented that Bengal, once celebrated for its cultural and intellectual achievements, now faces severe disorder. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the central government is committed to development, with a significant increase in the railway budget compared to twelve years ago.

He highlighted that nearly 45 kilometers of work has been completed in the Kolkata Metro network over the past eleven years, significantly improving urban transport. However, he criticized the state government for not cooperating on critical projects, citing the Chingrihata project as an example where state interference has stalled progress.

Vaishnav announced that development work at Shrirampur railway station would commence next week, promising to inform the district BJP president formally. He reassured that the Modi government is dedicated to further regional development, exemplifying its commitment to public welfare and infrastructure enhancement.

He pointed out that the Nandigram railway project has seen no progress due to the lack of state cooperation. Vaishnav challenged the Chief Minister to support the project if she genuinely cares for the public. He mentioned the Ayushman Bharat scheme, aimed at providing health security to the poor, which has not been implemented in West Bengal due to political bias.

In conclusion, he accused the ruling party of encouraging illegal immigration for electoral gain, which he deemed harmful to the long-term interests of the people of Bengal. He urged the public to reflect on the deteriorating conditions under the Communist, Congress, and Trinamool Congress regimes and called for action to save Bengal. Vaishnav appealed for a chance to the BJP to protect Bengal’s identity and rebuild the state.
