Ashok Gehlot Criticizes BJP Government Over NEET (UG) Exam Cancellation

Jaipur, May 12: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan targeted the BJP government on Tuesday regarding alleged irregularities in the NEET (UG) exam. He stated that the cancellation of the exam proves that there were significant discrepancies involved.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) canceled the NEET (UG) 2026 exam, which took place on May 3, after receiving approval from the central government. Officials indicated that new exam dates would be announced soon.

In the meantime, Gehlot accused the Rajasthan government of deliberately trying to suppress the issue for nearly two weeks, which he claimed jeopardized the futures of millions of young people.

He remarked that the NTA’s decision to cancel the exam and hand the investigation over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was a “major step taken in the interest of students and fairness.”

Gehlot emphasized that the cancellation of the NEET (UG) exam clearly indicates that large-scale irregularities occurred. Instead of taking immediate action, the BJP government in Rajasthan attempted to cover up the matter. He further noted that the BJP government had previously concealed a scam related to OMR sheets connected to the Staff Selection Board to protect its reputation.

Gehlot pointed out that due to weak legal representation, the accused in that case were granted bail. He claimed that there were also attempts to suppress information related to the NEET (UG) paper leak. Surprisingly, an FIR was not even filed initially. Now, the truth has come to light, revealing the true face of the BJP government.

To ensure a thorough investigation into the exam-related allegations, the central government has decided to assign the case to the CBI. The NTA stated that it would fully cooperate with the CBI and provide all necessary documents, records, and assistance for the investigation. The agency also mentioned that it had previously issued a press release regarding the NEET (UG) 2026 exam.
