Greater Noida Bus Tragedy: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Announces Compensation for Victims Families
Following a tragic bus accident on the Yamuna Expressway, CM Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance for victims families.

Greater Noida, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : A devastating bus accident occurred late on the night of September 23-24 in the Jewar area of Greater Noida. The incident involved a double-decker bus traveling from Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate to Mahoba, which caught fire near the 33-kilometer milestone on the Yamuna Expressway. There were over 30 passengers on board at the time.
Upon receiving the distress call, local police, rescue teams, and fire services swiftly arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. Authorities managed to rescue more than 20 passengers, with a total of 30 individuals brought to safety. Tragically, nine passengers were found deceased inside the bus, having succumbed to smoke inhalation and burns.
Initial investigations suggest that a spark or blast in the bus’s air conditioning unit ignited the engine’s lubricating oil, leading to the rapid spread of the fire. Reports indicate that the bus was heavily loaded with luggage on the upper deck, which may have contributed to the severity of the blaze. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by police and forensic teams.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced financial assistance of ₹200,000 for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. He directed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper medical care and that the affected families receive all possible support.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and have taken the bus driver and conductor into custody. Efforts are underway to identify the deceased and carry out necessary legal proceedings.
