Lucknow, August 13: Arvind Rajbhar, the National General Secretary of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), has raised serious concerns regarding a threatening incident involving a firearm at his office.
Rajbhar reported that an individual entered his office and brandished a pistol during a dispute with the office in-charge, threatening both him and SBSP leader Om Prakash Rajbhar. He described the incident as alarming and stated that a complaint has been filed with the police, urging for a swift resolution.
At the time of the incident, Rajbhar was not present as he was en route to a program in Basti. The confrontation occurred in his cabin, where the individual initially argued with the office in-charge before allegedly pulling out a pistol and issuing threats. The assailant reportedly warned that Om Prakash Rajbhar and Arvind Rajbhar should refrain from speaking against the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leader, Akhilesh Yadav.
As the situation escalated, the office in-charge defended himself by striking the assailant with a computer keyboard, causing the pistol to fall. The suspect then fled the office with the weapon, continuing to issue threats as he was pursued outside.
Rajbhar expressed concern that this could be a calculated conspiracy, linking it to previous statements made by Shivpal Yadav regarding Om Prakash Rajbhar. He recalled that Yadav had previously mentioned “special treatment” for Om Prakash Rajbhar, prompting him to question the nature of such remarks.
He speculated that the threatening incident might be an attempt to exert pressure related to political statements. Rajbhar called on the police administration to expedite the investigation.
He demanded clarification from Akhilesh Yadav regarding the incident. If the assailant claims to be a supporter or worker of the SP, Yadav must clarify the party’s stance on threats and violence. Political disagreements should be addressed through dialogue, not intimidation or firearms. Rajbhar noted that he has also faced threats on social media, with some individuals warning him to cease speaking against Akhilesh Yadav.
Additionally, he mentioned that a threatening video against him circulated on social media. He emphasized that threatening a leader or their family due to political opposition poses a serious issue for democracy.
Rajbhar asserted that he advocates for the rights of the poor, youth, and marginalized communities and will not be silenced by threats. His political focus is on uplifting socially, educationally, and economically disadvantaged communities. He highlighted the need to empower groups like the Arkavanshi, Banjara, Khangar, and other marginalized communities politically.
In response to Shivpal Yadav’s statement about appointing Azam Khan as Home Minister, Rajbhar criticized the notion, stating that such dreams are unrealistic. He emphasized that legal matters should be considered when discussing political appointments, as such statements could embolden criminals. He called for educated and capable youth to be given opportunities in politics and leadership.
Rajbhar also questioned the SP’s narrative regarding social justice and representation for backward classes, insisting that all marginalized communities deserve respect and rights. He urged the youth to take a more active role in politics, emphasizing the need for the new generation to lead.
Regarding a proposal from the Uttar Pradesh government to provide financial assistance of around 50,000 rupees to women for self-employment, Rajbhar noted that the plan includes an initial 20,000 rupee grant followed by three installments of 10,000 rupees each. He suggested that if this initiative effectively empowers rural women with skills but lacking resources, it could be beneficial.
However, he stressed that merely providing financial assistance is insufficient for true empowerment; significant attention must also be given to girls’ education. He urged the Uttar Pradesh government to implement solid provisions for free education for girls from primary to higher education. The issue of women’s empowerment should transcend political accusations. According to Rajbhar, providing women with opportunities in employment, self-employment, skill development, and education is essential for long-term self-reliance.
