Itanagar, July 22: Arunachal Pradesh has released the draft of its voter list following the completion of the counting phase under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Approximately 81% of the state’s 887,000 registered voters have completed the enumeration process.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain stated that voters whose names are not included in the draft voter list can apply to have their names added during the ‘claims and objections’ period, which runs from July 21 to August 20.
While announcing the draft voter list, the CEO informed political party representatives that as of July 14, 718,046 voters had submitted their enumeration forms. This figure represents about 81% of the total registered voters in the state, showcasing significant participation in the third phase of the SIR process.
Sain noted that the remaining 169,459 forms were not submitted for various reasons, including voters relocating permanently (8.90%), absence or inability to be contacted (6.16%), death (2.88%), duplicate registrations (0.56%), and other reasons (0.60%). He clarified that eligible voters not included in the draft list can still apply to have their names added during the claims and objections period.
The CEO emphasized that the Election Commission aims to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the list while removing ineligible names through a transparent and legal process. He assured that no names would be removed without prior notification and a valid order from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).
Sain announced that the final voter list will be published on September 22, 2026, after the completion of the SIR process. He credited the successful enumeration phase to the collaborative efforts of election officials across the state, including District Election Officers (DEOs) from all 26 districts, 60 EROs, 206 AEROs, 248 booth-level officer supervisors, and 2,233 booth-level officers (BLOs), with assistance from volunteers.
He also praised the active participation of recognized political parties, noting that 3,131 booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by the parties and their district presidents contributed significantly to the successful completion of the enumeration process.
