Arshdeep Concedes 53 Runs as New Zealand Sets 209 Target in Second T20

Raipur: New Zealand posted a challenging total of 208 runs for six wickets in the second T20 match against India, thanks to explosive innings by Rachin Ravindra and captain Mitchell Santner. The match is underway at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl first. The visitors started aggressively, scoring quickly in the powerplay. Arshdeep Singh gave away 18 runs in his very first over, and again leaked 18 runs in his third over, ending with figures of four overs for 53 runs without taking a wicket.

Devon Conway and Tim Seifert opened the innings, putting on 43 runs in 3.2 overs before Conway was dismissed for 19 off nine balls, including one six and three fours. Seifert followed soon after, scoring 24 from 13 balls with five boundaries.

At 43 for four wickets in 4.2 overs, New Zealand seemed under pressure, but Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips steadied the innings with a 55-run partnership off 27 balls. Phillips contributed 19 runs, while Ravindra scored 44 runs from 26 balls, featuring four sixes and two fours.

Captain Mitchell Santner came in at number seven and played a vital role towards the end. He shared a 32-run partnership with Mark Chapman, who scored 10, and then an unbeaten 47-run stand with Jakari Faulks, who remained not out on 15, helping New Zealand reach a formidable total.

From the Indian bowling side, Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful with two wickets. Hardik Pandya, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, and Shivam Dube took one wicket each.

India had won the first T20 match by 48 runs after losing the ODI series 1-2. They now aim to extend their lead to 2-0 in this five-match T20 series with a strong bowling performance in the chase.
