Arrest of Notorious Gangster Himanshu Bhau Marks Major Success for Indian Agencies

The arrest of gangster Himanshu Bhau signals a significant victory for Indian law enforcement and may impact other wanted criminals abroad.

New Delhi, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) L.N. Rao hailed the recent arrest of notorious gangster Himanshu Bhau as a significant joint success for Indian law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that this operation sends a strong message to gangsters operating their criminal networks from abroad. Rao noted that the action could aid in tightening the noose around other wanted criminals through Interpol and extradition treaties.

The arrest, executed by the Anti-Bureau of Investigation (ABI), was described by Rao as a major achievement for Haryana Police, Delhi Police, and Indian agencies, particularly with the assistance of Interpol and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This operation led to Bhau and an accomplice being apprehended, who are linked to multiple criminal cases. The extradition process for them is now set to begin.

Rao explained that Bhau had been running his operations from overseas, having entered the criminal world at a young age of 17 or 18. His criminal activities escalated quickly, placing him among major offenders. Following his arrest, authorities will interrogate him to uncover more details about his network.

He also pointed out that juvenile laws are somewhat lenient, which can be advantageous for minors involved in crime. Bhau reportedly began managing his gang from abroad, directing members in India to carry out tasks such as extortion and intimidation.

The former DCP indicated that this arrest would likely influence other gangsters operating internationally. He stressed that actions will be taken against all criminals, even if it takes time to reach them, as was the case with Bhau.

Rao praised the Haryana Police for their swift action after receiving intelligence. He noted that the success of such operations relies heavily on the timely sharing of information among police agencies.

Regarding the recent incident involving posters displayed in the Delhi Metro, Rao categorized it as a legal offense. The Delhi Police have filed a case and are working to identify those responsible for the posters. The investigation aims to determine the content and intent behind the display, including whether it was an attempt to defame elected officials or disrupt governmental operations.

He expressed confidence in the Special Cell’s capability to handle the investigation, highlighting their experience in such matters. After the investigation, it will be revealed whether political motives were involved or if it was merely a case of mischief.

As the interrogation of Bhau proceeds, authorities hope to uncover the objectives behind his actions and any potential involvement of political entities.
