BJP Leader Claims Akhilesh Yadav Wanted Him Dead During Muzaffarnagar Riots
BJP leader Sangeet Som accuses Akhilesh Yadav of attempting to orchestrate his murder during the Muzaffarnagar riots, escalating political tensions.

Ghaziabad, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Sangeet Som has made serious allegations against Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Som claims that there was an attempt on his life during the Muzaffarnagar riots, and he directly holds Yadav responsible for it.
Speaking in Ghaziabad, Som recounted the chaos during the riots, which resulted in numerous fatalities. He stated that the Samajwadi Party and its affiliates created an atmosphere of terror in the region at that time. Som recalled being arrested and facing false charges against him.
He described how he was taken to Muzaffarnagar jail, only to be moved just two hours later. Som alleged that he was then driven around in the woods throughout the night. He revealed that police officials had made certain statements that he felt could not be repeated publicly, but they did mention they were acting under orders from higher authorities.
Som further claimed that after being transported several kilometers away, the entire jail was emptied. He questioned the necessity of evacuating the entire facility, noting that not a single inmate remained.
According to Som, jail officials informed him that there was a threat to his safety, which was why he was being held there. He subsequently sent messages to his supporters, who quickly organized a meeting and surrounded the jail. This led to a major gathering in Khera, where police reportedly opened fire on the crowd.
He noted that many were injured and required hospitalization, with some undergoing surgeries. Som emphasized that media representatives were present during these events.
Given the severity of the incidents he experienced, Som insisted he has every right to assert that Akhilesh Yadav intended to have him killed.
