According to reports, the incident occurred in the Malharoda police station area of Sakti district. Police officials revealed that the victim filed a complaint on May 25. She stated that she met 26-year-old Rakesh Tandon through Instagram. Tandon, a resident of Themhapara in the Masturi area of Bilaspur district, had developed a rapport with the victim online, leading to in-person meetings.

The accused allegedly promised to marry the victim and invited her to Mission Chowk on May 11.
