Aparshakti Khurana’s South Debut ‘Root’ First Look Released

Mumbai: Actor Aparshakti Khurana, well-known for his work in Hindi cinema, is set to make his debut in South Indian films. He will be seen in the upcoming Tamil movie ‘Root – Running Out of Time’.

Directed by Suryapratap S, the film marks Aparshakti’s first appearance in the South film industry. He stars alongside Tamil actor Gautam Karthik. On Monday, Aparshakti shared his first look from the film on Instagram, portraying a calm and serious character. Along with the image, he wrote, “Another glimpse from the world of Root – This is where it all begins.”

Root is a science-fiction crime thriller produced under the banner of Versus Productions by Sheikh Mujib, Rajarajan Gnanasekharan, Sanjay Shankar, and Dhanisthan Fernando. The film has been extensively shot in Chennai and other locations.

Besides Aparshakti and Gautam Ram Karthik, the cast includes Narayan, Bhavya Trikha, Y.G. Mahendra, Pavani Reddy, Linga, and RJ Anandi in important roles.

Having gained recognition in Bollywood with notable films such as Dangal, where he played the brother of Babita and Geeta Phogat, Aparshakti has also impressed audiences in movies like Stree, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Luka Chuppi, and Hello. With his entry into South cinema, he aims to expand his acting horizons and connect with Tamil audiences.

This new film could mark a significant chapter in Aparshakti Khurana’s career, broadening his appeal beyond Hindi cinema.

In addition to Root, Aparshakti will soon appear in Imtiaz Ali’s comedy-drama Side Heroes, sharing screen space with Abhishek Banerjee and Varun Sharma. The announcement was made by director Imtiaz Ali himself.
