Andhra Pradesh IAS Officer Transferred Following Altercation with Police in Bengaluru Pub

IAS officer Vikas Marmat has been transferred after a confrontation with police at a Bengaluru pub, raising concerns about conduct.

Bengaluru, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : The Andhra Pradesh government has transferred IAS officer Vikas Marmat following a dispute with police at a pub in Bengaluru. This decision comes after an incident that allegedly occurred on October 10, around 1:30 AM, at a pub on Residency Road.

Marmat, who was serving as the Project Director for the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), has been instructed to report to the General Administration Department for his next posting. The transfer was made effective immediately, as per an order issued by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad.

The Chief Secretary has also directed the Collector and District Magistrate of Chittoor to arrange for an interim officer to handle the responsibilities of the Project Director at KADA.

The situation escalated when Marmat and three others reportedly argued with police officers during a routine identification check. According to the police report filed at the Cubbon Park police station, the group allegedly used abusive language, threatened the officers, and engaged in physical altercations.

The incident was brought to light when a video of the confrontation went viral on social media, prompting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to order Marmat’s transfer in response to the public outcry.

The other individuals involved have been identified as Abhay Uday Singh, Nitesh, and Roshan. The police have taken the matter seriously, and investigations are ongoing.
