Andhra Pradesh Expands Digital Health Record Initiative Sanjeevani Statewide

Amaravati, April 1: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the expansion of the ‘Sanjeevani Project,’ which creates digital health records, across the state by July. Currently, the initiative is being implemented in Chittoor district’s Kuppam and Naravaripalle.

During a review meeting at his camp office, the Chief Minister set a target for health screenings for 5.64 million people statewide within the next year. He emphasized that the results of these screenings should be communicated directly to individuals via WhatsApp within 48 hours.

When officials indicated that 904 mobile medical units would be needed for this initiative, costing ₹162 crore, the Chief Minister approved the plan. So far, 314,000 individuals have registered in the Sanjeevani Digital Nerve Center database.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of regularly updating personal health records. He urged that services should be designed to reduce future medical expenses, with a focus on preventive healthcare.

He noted that adherence to yoga, nutrition, meditation, and pranayama could address many health issues. He also suggested evaluating the improvements in public health in Chittoor district, where the Sanjeevani Project is currently operational.

Naidu instructed officials to develop and implement a health management policy for Andhra Pradesh based on five key pillars: Maternity (Maternal Care), Shakti (Empowerment), Nipunyam (Skill Development), Kshema (Welfare), and Sanjeevani (Holistic Health).

Additionally, he reviewed the universal health policy being implemented statewide through the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. Officials reported that several insurance companies are stepping forward to partner in this initiative.

The Chief Minister called for a collective public movement to improve public health, directing that from April, MPs, MLAs, district collectors, and medical officers actively engage with the community.
