
Amaravati, March 26: A command control room has been set up at the RDO office in Markpuram, Andhra Pradesh, following a tragic bus accident. A helpline has also been launched. The accident resulted in the deaths of 14 individuals, with many others injured and currently receiving treatment in hospitals.

Reports indicate that 15 passengers from Nellore district were on the bus. Markpuram district collector P. Rajbabu has announced an investigation into the accident. The accident occurred around 6:30 AM on Thursday when a private travel bus collided with a tipper truck near Rayavaram in Markpuram district. At least 14 people were burned to death, and 22 others sustained injuries. The bus, operated by Harikrishna Travels, was carrying approximately 35 passengers.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the bus accident. He held a review meeting via teleconference with Minister Anita, Janardhan Reddy, top police officials, the district SP, and the district collector. During the review, officials provided initial information indicating that there were 35 passengers on board at the time of the accident, with 14 fatalities and 22 injured, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for all injured victims, provide adequate compensation to the families of the deceased and injured, and conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the accident may have occurred after the bus entered the opposite lane, while the driver allegedly reported that the steering had jammed.
