Anand Mohan Questions Need for National Working President in JD(U)

Patna, March 29: Former MP and influential leader Anand Mohan has stated that the position of National Working President is no longer necessary within the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U). Emphasizing the importance of leadership, Mohan asserted that Nitish Kumar remains the top authority in the party.

He noted that with Kumar set to go to Delhi as a Rajya Sabha member, he will be able to dedicate his full attention to strengthening the party organization. According to Mohan, the concept of a National Working President was relevant only when Kumar was preoccupied with the challenging responsibilities of being the Chief Minister of Bihar. With the changing times, he believes this role has become redundant.

Mohan also highlighted the importance of sending a message to party workers and supporters, particularly from backward and extremely backward communities, that all crucial decisions within the party are made under Kumar’s leadership.

This statement has intensified internal discussions within JD(U), raising new questions about the party’s organizational structure and future leadership dynamics.

Amid rising political speculation in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take the oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10, further fueling discussions about his potential successor. As the political landscape shifts, Anand Mohan has become increasingly active, openly advocating for Nishant Kumar to be the next Chief Minister.

His remarks have added a new dimension to the succession debate within JD(U), as discussions about leadership transition and future power dynamics gain momentum.

It is noteworthy that Nitish Kumar was elected to the Rajya Sabha on March 16 and, according to constitutional regulations, must resign from his position in the Legislative Council within 14 days. If he refuses to resign by March 30, his Rajya Sabha membership will be annulled.
