Amit Shah Hands Over Appointment Letters to 8,000 Rajasthan Police Personnel

Jaipur: On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Rajasthan and addressed a ceremony in Jaipur where appointment letters were distributed to over 8,000 newly recruited Rajasthan Police personnel. He personally handed over the letters to the police recruits.

During the event, Amit Shah criticised the previous Congress government and praised the BJP government led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma. He said, “Today, thousands of young people in Rajasthan have received their uniforms, bringing new hope to their families and strengthening the state’s law and order. This programme holds great significance in these three aspects.”

The Home Minister emphasised that jobs are now being given purely on merit, without any recommendations or corruption. He stated, “I want to tell the people of Rajasthan that these youths have been appointed without any expenses or recommendations, solely based on their capability. This is the work of the BJP government in Rajasthan, which has eliminated corruption and respected merit.”

Amit Shah further credited Bhajanlal Sharma’s government with ending the series of paper leaks that plagued the Congress regime. He remarked, “No state can progress unless it promotes meritorious youths and appoints its personnel transparently. Rajasthan has stopped paper leaks, strengthened law enforcement, and under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is becoming a leading investment destination. Investors from across the country are competing to invest in Rajasthan.”

Speaking on the challenges faced by Rajasthan Police, he said, “The Rajasthan Police is one of the most capable forces in the country. The state has an international border with Pakistan, rugged terrain like the Chambal ravines, the vast Thar desert, world-famous tourist spots such as Ajmer Sharif, Pushkar, Chittorgarh, and historic cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur, along with natural reserves like Ranthambore, Sariska, and Keoladeo. These factors multiply the challenges for the police.”

The Home Minister highlighted crime reduction under the BJP government, stating, “In two years since Bhajanlal Sharma’s government came to power, crimes have reduced by nearly 14 percent. Serious crimes under new laws have dropped by 19 percent, murders by 25 percent, attempted murders by 19 percent, crimes against women by 10 percent, crimes against SC/ST communities by 28 percent, dacoity by 47 percent, and robbery by 51 percent.”

He outlined new initiatives taken by the Rajasthan Police such as formation of the Anti-Gangster Task Force, integration of modern technology through the Abhay Command Centre with CCTNS, 112, and ICJS systems, introduction of Quick Patrolling Units, strengthening of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, and establishment of a Cyber Helpline Wing inspired by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ I4C programme.

Amit Shah also spoke on legal reforms, noting, “Earlier laws created by the British aimed to protect their rule and revenue. New laws give importance to technology and connect all pillars of the criminal justice system online. Separate chapters ensure the safety of women and children. Terrorism has been defined for the first time, organised crime redefined, and forensic science made mandatory in cases with sentences over seven years.”

He added, “With full implementation of these laws, any First Information Report will be resolved up to the Supreme Court within three years, ending prolonged delays. Though still in early stages, Rajasthan Police’s conviction rate has increased from 41 percent to 60 percent and aims to reach 85 percent.”

Before the Jaipur event, Amit Shah attended the ‘Maheshwari Global Convention and Expo 2026’ in Jodhpur, where he praised India’s rapidly growing economy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “India has risen from the 11th to the 4th largest economy in the past decade and is soon expected to become the third largest.”
