New Delhi, March 24: The government announced on Tuesday that all gas refineries in the country are operating at full capacity, with 18,700 tons of commercial LPG supplied as of Monday.
During an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that all refineries are functioning at high capacity and that there is a sufficient stock of petrol and diesel available across the nation.
The government is also emphasizing the increase of PNG connections nationwide. Sharma noted that the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has instructed city gas distribution (CGD) companies to provide PNG connections to schools, colleges, and anganwadi kitchens within five days where facilities are available.
According to her, approximately 7,500 domestic and commercial PNG connections were provided in 110 major areas of the country on Monday.
Sharma mentioned that there are over 100,000 petrol pumps in the country, most of which are operating normally, with adequate stocks of petrol and diesel.
She also highlighted that every possible effort is being made to ensure the supply of LPG, and the government is working to increase supply sources to maintain stability. Additionally, states have been urged to enhance monitoring and management.
She confirmed that there is also a sufficient stock of LNG in the country.
In the first three weeks of March, more than 350,000 domestic and commercial PNG connections have been established, while LPG cylinder deliveries continue normally, and panic bookings have significantly decreased.
Given the current geopolitical situation, the LPG supply is being closely monitored, but there have been no reports of gas shortages.
According to oil marketing companies, there is no fuel shortage at any petrol pump, and supplies are being delivered regularly. The government has urged people not to panic buy, as there is ample stock available.
Priority is being given to essential sectors, with 100 percent supply to domestic PNG and CNG transport, while industrial and commercial consumers receive about 80 percent of the supply.
