London, July 10: Alexander Zverev has secured his place in the men’s singles final of Wimbledon 2026. In a thrilling semifinal match held on Friday, Zverev triumphed over Arthur Fery with a score of 7-6(0), 6-2, 6-4, marking his first appearance in a Wimbledon final.
Zverev delivered an impressive performance on Centre Court, defeating the 23-year-old Fery in front of his home crowd. This victory extends Zverev’s winning streak in Grand Slam tournaments to 13 matches. Recently crowned the French Open champion, Zverev is just one win away from claiming his first Wimbledon title.
Fery managed to keep pace with Zverev at the start of the match, compensating for an early break in the first set and showcasing his speed and shot-making abilities, which forced a tiebreak. However, Zverev soon took full control, dominating the tiebreak 7-0 as Fery’s errors began to mount.
In the second set, Zverev accelerated his game, dominating with his first serve and hitting 12 winners without facing a single break point. He broke Fery’s serve twice to get closer to victory, delivering a crucial blow in the middle of the third set. With powerful groundstrokes, he secured a vital break and wrapped up the match in just two hours and 14 minutes.
After the match, Zverev expressed his joy, stating, “This is amazing. This Grand Slam has always been challenging for me. Now I’m in the Wimbledon final. I’m very happy and proud of my team and everyone involved. We have one more match on Sunday.”
With this win, Zverev becomes only the third German player to reach the Wimbledon final, joining three-time champion Boris Becker and 1991 winner Michael Stich. This marks his best performance at the grass-court major, as he had never progressed beyond the fourth round in previous years.
At 29 years old, Zverev has lost only two sets during his Wimbledon 2026 journey. In the final on Sunday, he will face either reigning champion Jannik Sinner or seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.
