Akshay Kumar: A Good Film Succeeds Without Events

Mumbai, June 24: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Ahmed Khan recently discussed their upcoming film “Welcome to the Jungle” in an interview with a news agency. They openly talked about the film’s extensive star cast, their professional relationship, memorable shooting experiences, and the challenges of creating a multi-starrer film.

During the conversation, they shared insights about the legendary actress Farida Jalal’s contributions to Indian cinema and their experiences working with her. They also expressed their thoughts on the excitement and challenges that come with collaborating with such a large ensemble cast.

Akshay Kumar emphasized that a film’s success does not solely depend on the hype surrounding it or major events. He stated that a good film will find its audience regardless of whether it is labeled as an “event film.” He noted that every film has its own fate, and if it is meant to succeed, it will do so in some way, regardless of the absence of a big event or hype.

He provided an example, asking, “What event was there for the film ‘Saiyara’? There was nothing. Its songs became popular, and the romance resonated with the audience. Both the actor and actress performed exceptionally well.”

Kumar also addressed the competition among actors in multi-starrer films regarding screen space. He mentioned that there was no atmosphere of rivalry in the “Welcome to the Jungle” team, where no actor was trying to outshine others or seek more importance.

He stated, “We were making a film. No one was trying to please anyone or outdo each other. Everyone was aware of this. Not a single person came forward to say, ‘My dialogue is less’ or ‘His dialogue is more.’ There was none of that.”

He further explained that he knows many people who willingly offered their dialogues to others, saying, “You say this line” or “You take this dialogue.” There was absolutely none of that.
