
Chennai, May 14: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced a significant organizational reshuffle within the party on Wednesday. This move involved the removal of several senior leaders and current legislators from their positions as district secretaries, alongside the appointment of a new group of officials across Tamil Nadu.
These substantial changes come amid ongoing internal turmoil within the party, following recent political developments in Tamil Nadu. The reshuffle is viewed as an attempt by AIADMK leadership to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level and solidify their control over district units.
Notable leaders relieved of their district responsibilities include former ministers Natham R. Vishwanathan (Dindigul East), S.P. Velumani (Coimbatore South), C.V. Shanmugam (Viluppuram), R. Kamaraj (Thiruvarur), and C. Vijay (Pudukkottai North).
Other senior officials removed from their district secretary positions include P. Thangamani (Namakkal), K.P. Anbalagan (Dharmapuri), B. Benjamin (Tiruvallur Central), Udumalaik. Radhakrishnan (Tiruppur West), and S.T.K. Jakkaiyan (Theni West).
The reshuffle has also impacted several other district leaders, including Isaki Subbiah, M.C. Sampath, K.C. Veeramani, M.R. Vijay, K.V. Ramalingam, P. Balakrishna Reddy, and A. Arunmozhidevan. Additionally, numerous other officials across the state have faced changes due to this reshuffle.
Palaniswami has also announced a new list of district secretaries effective immediately. R. Pasupathi has been appointed as the secretary for Viluppuram district, while S. M. Velusamy will take charge of Coimbatore South.
V. Palanivel has been assigned to Pudukkottai North, and K.P.P. has been appointed for Namakkal district. R.D. Murthy, popularly known as ‘Deshanamurthy,’ has been designated as the secretary for Thiruvarur district, and K.S. Ravichandran will oversee Tiruvallur Central.
In Ranipet, A.P.S. Lognathan and Sumaithangi C. Elumalai have been appointed as district secretaries for the eastern and western units, respectively. Other newly appointed district secretaries include S. Pasupathi for Tirupattur, Damodaran for Cuddalore North, M. Ramu for Krishnagiri West, R. Manoharan for Erode City, Pala Nandakumar for Nilgiri, and C. Karthikeyan for Trichy City.
K. Kamalakannan has been appointed for Karur, V.T. Narayanasamy for Theni West, and K. Ram Subramaniam for Tirunelveli South.
In a statement, Palaniswami urged party workers and officials to extend full support to the newly appointed district secretaries and work towards strengthening the AIADMK organization throughout the state.
