Amit Shahs Visit Marks a Turning Point in Punjabs Fight Against Gangster Rule
Amit Shahs visit to Punjab is seen as a crucial step towards restoring peace and tackling organized crime in the state.

New Delhi, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Amit Shah’s recent visit to Punjab has been hailed as a pivotal moment in the state’s battle against organized crime and insecurity. Tarun Chugh, the national general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a Rajya Sabha MP, emphasized that this trip aims to address the rampant gang culture and drug trafficking that have plagued the region.
During discussions, Chugh noted that Shah intends to meet families who have suffered losses due to crime and drug-related violence. He highlighted the sorrowful atmosphere in Punjab, exacerbated by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) failure to control gangsters and drug lords. According to Chugh, this visit is designed to instill hope among the victims and alleviate the prevailing fear in the state.
Chugh criticized the AAP government, particularly Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, for downplaying serious crimes as mere “personal disputes.” He pointed out that leaders who once dismissed such issues are now backtracking under public pressure. He also called out state finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema for previously defending criminals, suggesting that now, due to changing circumstances, he is advocating for CBI investigations.
The BJP leader insisted that a thorough investigation is necessary into the deep-rooted connections between crime and influential figures in Chandigarh and within prison systems. He expressed concern over how criminals have been glorified through interviews conducted from inside jails, indicating a troubling level of protection they receive.
Chugh reaffirmed the central government’s commitment to restoring law and order in Punjab. He announced a deadline of December 31, 2029, for completely eradicating drug trafficking in the state, stating that no offender, regardless of their position, will be spared from stringent action.
In conclusion, he held the governments of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann directly accountable for Punjab’s deteriorating security situation, asserting that the public is demanding a fear-free environment in the state.
