Ahmedabad Prepares for Ganesh Visarjan with Extensive Safety Measures
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation deploys 290 firefighters and 38 cranes for Ganesh idol immersion at 38 designated sites.

Ahmedabad, September 24 (Daily Kiran) : The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has made extensive preparations for the immersion of Ganesh idols, setting up immersion tanks at 38 locations across the city. To ensure safety and efficiency, 290 firefighters, two boats, and 38 cranes will be deployed during the festivities.
Kamlesh Patel, chairman of the AMC’s standing committee, announced these arrangements on Thursday. The cranes will facilitate the immersion of larger idols at all designated sites.
Firefighters will be stationed at various locations, equipped with necessary tools and materials. Additionally, the fire department has arranged for two boats to assist in the immersion process.
Patel emphasized that the AMC has taken all necessary steps to ensure the immersion of the idols proceeds peacefully and in an organized manner. These arrangements were discussed during the AMC’s weekly standing committee meeting, which also addressed issues related to city development, public facilities, and administrative matters.
The committee directed that all water tanks under the AMC’s jurisdiction be cleaned every six months. This decision follows the discovery of a bone-like object during a recent cleaning of a tank in Asarwa village, which prompted a forensic investigation.
Patel confirmed that the cleaning of city water tanks is routinely conducted every six months and that the matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and police. A forensic team has already visited the site to conduct an investigation.
The committee also reviewed the repair work on roads following the monsoon. Most potholes created during the rainy season have been addressed, and the remaining ones, along with areas requiring significant patchwork, are expected to be completed within the next four days.
