Afghan Foreign Minister Accuses Pakistans Army Generals of Endangering Regional Security

Kabul, March 10: Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has made serious allegations against Pakistani army generals. According to local media, Muttaqi stated that instead of resolving internal issues, these generals have jeopardized the security of the entire region.

During an iftar event for diplomats from various countries in Kabul, Muttaqi remarked that Pakistan’s military leadership is in conflict with its own lawmakers, religious leaders, and the public. He emphasized that rather than seeking dialogue, they are attempting to resolve issues through pressure and confrontation, which only strengthens opposition.

He stated, “Instead of addressing their internal problems, Pakistani generals have endangered the security of the entire region.”

As reported by Ariana News in Afghanistan, Muttaqi noted that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is not a new organization; it has been active since before the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.

His comments come at a time when Pakistani officials have repeatedly claimed that certain groups in Afghanistan, particularly the TTP, are involved in attacks within Pakistan. However, the Taliban government has dismissed these accusations.

Muttaqi accused Pakistan of ruthlessly expelling Afghan refugees, closing trade routes, violating Afghanistan’s sovereignty, and propagating against Afghanistan on international platforms. He asserted that the people of Afghanistan have never succumbed to pressure and will not hesitate to sacrifice for their country’s freedom.

The current tensions escalated after Pakistan targeted certain areas within the Afghan border on February 21. In response, the Taliban-led Afghan army retaliated against Pakistani military bases on February 27. Following this, Pakistan launched “Operation Gajab Lil-Haq,” claiming it was a response to “unprovoked firing” from Afghan forces.

On Sunday, following a major attack by the Pakistani army, a commercial market in Afghanistan’s Torkham area caught fire, causing damage to businesses and property.

According to Khama Press, citing Bakhtawar News Agency, Torkham’s mayor, Maulvi Abdullah Mustafa, reported that several shells were fired toward the city around 4 a.m. on Sunday, landing near a market and igniting a fire that spread to several shops.

Firefighters, municipal water tankers, and local residents responded to extinguish the blaze, but it took considerable time to bring it under control.

So far, over 150 shops have been destroyed in the fire, with the market owner estimating an economic loss of approximately 300 million. The escalating conflict along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border is increasing tensions between the two countries and contributing to regional instability.
