Mumbai: Television actress Nupur Alankar, known for her roles in over 150 serials, has stepped away from the glamour of the small screen to lead a spiritual life.
Famous for playing negative characters, Nupur is now inspiring people, especially the youth, to follow the path of spirituality through practices like chanting and meditation. Few could have imagined that the actress, once celebrated for her stylish looks, would don a saffron robe and dedicate her life as Maa Pitambara.
Although she remains minimally active on social media, Nupur recently launched a new account under the name Maa Pitambara, where she shares videos of religious rituals and yajnas. She also educates her followers on the differences and benefits of various spiritual chants, as seen in her recent Instagram video.
Nupur’s appearance has undergone a remarkable transformation. Wearing a saffron saree, a red bindi on her forehead, and a rudraksha mala in hand, she is hardly recognisable to her fans. In some videos, she is seen chanting the names of Radha-Shyam and Shri Krishna while playing the manjira.
The actress has revealed that the turning point in her spiritual journey was the passing of her mother. She felt a strange sense of freedom mixed with responsibility after her mother’s death. With no familial obligations remaining, she decided to devote her life entirely to God.
After a continuous 27-year career in television, which included popular shows like ‘Shaktimaan’, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann’, ‘Agale Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo’, and ‘Rajaji’, Nupur suddenly chose to renounce her acting career. Though she kept away from social media for a while, she now regularly updates her followers with her spiritual activities.
