Mumbai, April 19: Darshan Kumar, the younger brother of Gulshan Kumar and a prominent figure associated with T-Series, has passed away at the age of 70. The news of his demise has prompted an outpouring of tributes from various artists on social media. Celebrities from the Punjabi music industry, including actor and music director Devinder Singh (Davy Singh) and Bollywood singer Mika Singh, shared their heartfelt memories of him.
Singer Devinder Singh expressed his sorrow over Darshan Kumar’s passing through an Instagram post. He wrote, “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Darshan Kumar ji (brother of the late Gulshan Kumar ji). From 1994 to 2002, I was in constant touch with him. Initially, I would often visit him for album recordings along with the late singer Labh Janjua. I would frequently meet Gulshan ji and Darshan ji as well. Gradually, we developed a brotherly bond. He was a very kind and good person.”
He continued, “Darshan ji invited me several times to join T-Series, but I was working with my company, Catrack, so I had to respectfully decline his offer. Whenever I visited his office, there were numerous cassettes waiting for release. He would ask me, ‘Listen to these and tell me which cassettes we can produce.’ I would provide my input based on my understanding.”
Davy Singh also recalled a special memory, stating, “Once, I mentioned that I needed to go to the market for some supplies. He insisted on accompanying me, despite my objections. He drove his Mercedes through the crowded market with me. Darshan ji was truly a down-to-earth person. My memories of him are filled with countless cherished moments. I pray that God grants his soul a place at His feet and gives strength to his family and friends to endure this profound loss.”
Singer Mika Singh also expressed his deep sorrow in a social media post. He wrote, “I just received the heartbreaking news that Darshan Kumar ji of T-Series has bid us farewell, leaving behind beautiful memories. He was truly a great man, always ready to help others. He provided many singers with opportunities and countless talents with a platform. May Mata Rani grant peace to his soul.”
