Mumbai: Actress Nimrat Kaur, known for her connection to the Indian Army through her family, paid an emotional tribute to her father, Martyr Major Bhupendra Singh, on his death anniversary. Major Bhupendra Singh sacrificed his life for the nation and is remembered with deep respect.
Major Bhupendra Singh was abducted by terrorists in Kashmir in 1994. When the terrorists’ demands were refused, he laid down his life at the age of 44. In recognition of his bravery and sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
In his hometown of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, a statue stands in his honour. Additionally, a memorial has been established in the area of Kashmir where he took his last breath, serving as a lasting tribute to his courage.
Nimrat Kaur shared heartfelt memories of her father on social media, posting photographs from his younger days as well as pictures of the memorial. She wrote, “It has been 32 years since Papa left us. He sacrificed his life in service to the country. Coming from a humble background, he rose through hard work. He was an excellent father, husband, and above all, a fearless soldier who showed immense courage even in his final moments.”
The actress also expressed her gratitude towards the Indian Army and administration for immortalising her father’s name in both his birthplace and the soil of Kashmir. She said, “I will always be thankful to the Army and the administration for honouring Papa’s name in Ganganagar and Kashmir. His sacrifice, courage, values, and strength continue to live on in the memories of his comrades and all of us.”
Concluding her tribute, Nimrat Kaur shared her deep emotions and said, “I miss Papa a lot today. I pray for all the soldiers who have laid down their lives for the country. I will always be proud to be the daughter of Major Bhupendra Singh.”
