Mumbai, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Namrata Shirodkar welcomed Ganapati Bappa into her home with great enthusiasm and devotion, a tradition she honors each year. This year was no different, as she celebrated the festival with her family and participated in the immersion ceremony after keeping the idol for three days.
On Thursday, Namrata shared glimpses of the immersion on social media. In an Instagram story, she posted a video featuring her children, daughter Sitara and son Gautam, as they bid farewell to Ganapati Bappa alongside family members.
In one segment of the video, Namrata is seen performing a prayer with her children. The family gathered around the beautifully decorated idol, surrounded by flowers and traditional adornments.
Earlier, she had also shared a video of herself performing the aarti for Lord Ganesha. Another snapshot showed her posing in a bright pink traditional outfit in front of the Ganapati idol with her pets. As she shared festival moments, Namrata wished everyone a happy Ganesh Chaturthi, saying, “Ganapati Bappa Morya… Wishing you all a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi.”
Coming from a Maharashtrian family, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival holds great significance for Namrata. She is the granddaughter of renowned Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar and the elder sister of actress Shilpa Shirodkar. Namrata began her career as a model, winning the Miss India title in 1993.
She later transitioned into films, appearing in notable works such as “Vaastav: The Reality,” “Kachche Dhaage,” “Pukar,” “Astitva,” “Aagaz,” “Albella,” and “Bride and Prejudice.” In addition to Hindi films, she has also made her mark in the South Indian film industry.
The Telugu film “Vamsi” is particularly significant in her personal life, as it is where she met actor Mahesh Babu. The couple married in 2005 and have two children, Gautam and Sitara. Following their marriage, she stepped back from acting to focus on her family life.
