Activist Critiques Governments Response to Maratha Reservation Movement

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Manoj Jarange Patil, a prominent leader in the Maratha reservation movement, has sharply criticized both the central and state governments following the detention of Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP). He claims that there is a concerted effort to suppress the voices of students, farmers, and advocates for the Maratha community who are raising important issues.

Jarange Patil expressed concern over the current state of democracy in the country, questioning whether it is still possible to protest peacefully or advocate for student rights. While he admitted he did not have complete information about Dipke’s situation, he suggested it might be related to student issues. He emphasized that those who bring forth the concerns of students, farmers, and the Maratha community are being targeted.

He pointed out that instead of listening to the demands of the public, authorities seem more focused on discrediting these requests. Referring to the planned protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, he raised questions about the heavy police presence and traffic restrictions imposed in the area.

Regarding the Maratha reservation issue, Jarange Patil reiterated that the demand for reservation is legitimate, yet the government continues to avoid addressing it. He accused the authorities of attempting to create divisions within the community rather than providing the requested support.

Despite facing ongoing harassment and pressure from officials, Jarange Patil vowed to continue advocating for the cause. He criticized the government’s tactics of manipulating media narratives through various individuals.

He concluded by stating that the public, not just in Maharashtra but across the nation, is beginning to understand the government’s approach. He warned that the misuse of power and ministerial positions is leading to injustice against ordinary citizens. The awareness among the populace has grown, and they will hold the government accountable when the time is right.
