New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj is set to visit the police commissioner’s office in New Delhi on Tuesday to demand the filing of an FIR against Delhi government minister Pravesh Verma. Bhardwaj announced his plans on the social media platform X.
In a post on his official account, Bhardwaj stated, “I will arrive at the Delhi Police Commissioner’s office at 1 PM to demand an FIR against Minister Pravesh Verma.” He shared a video on social media late Monday night, expressing concerns about AAP volunteers being detained at various police stations. “It is past midnight, and our volunteers have been taken to different police stations. We will ask the police commissioner why an FIR has not been registered,” he said.
Bhardwaj further criticized the lack of action against Verma, saying, “It is shameful that no FIR has been filed against Pravesh Verma. When a dog lover slapped Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, an attempt to murder case was filed, and the accused was arrested immediately. He has been in jail for over a year.”
The official AAP account on X also posted late Monday, accusing the Delhi Police of shielding “BJP’s goon minister.” The post alleged that instead of filing an FIR against Verma, the police were harassing AAP leaders Saurabh Bhardwaj and Jarnail Singh, detaining them for the second consecutive night. “The question remains: will an FIR be filed against Pravesh Verma or against those who raise their voices?” it stated.
The political climate has intensified following a video showing Pravesh Verma slapping an individual while inspecting roads in the city. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal also weighed in on the incident, criticizing Prime Minister Modi for supporting Verma. He emphasized that the government’s efforts to connect with the youth will not succeed with half-hearted measures.
In response, Verma released his own video, countering Kejriwal’s claims. He asserted that the young man involved in the incident was not a youth of the community but rather a “goon” associated with AAP.
Tensions continue to rise as the AAP seeks accountability for the actions of the Delhi minister.
