BJP Legislator Questions Funding of Delhi Protests, Emphasizes National Interests Beyond Capital
BJP MLA Pawan Singh raises concerns over funding for Delhi protests, emphasizing national interests extend beyond the capital.

Bhatarpara, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : BJP legislator Pawan Singh has voiced significant concerns regarding the ongoing anti-SIR protests in Delhi. He expressed skepticism about the motives of the protesters, suggesting that their focus seems limited to Delhi, while the interests of the nation extend to other states as well. Singh accused the protesters of receiving funding with the singular aim of undermining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In his remarks, Singh noted, “I have serious doubts about their movement. They only target Delhi. When they claim to advocate for students, youth, or national interests, it cannot be confined to just one city. There are other states governed by different parties where voices should also be raised.” He implied that the protesters are acting based on a specific agenda.
Singh further alleged that the funding they receive is aimed at portraying the BJP negatively, suggesting that they want to depict the party as working against the nation’s interests. “The people of India are beginning to understand this,” he added, observing a decline in the popularity and support for the protests over time.
He stated, “If we are truthful, the truth does not require proof. People are gradually understanding everything. However, if they continue their previous actions under the guise of protests, questions will arise.” Singh recalled that during the initial protests at Jantar Mantar, permission was granted, but it devolved into activities deemed anti-national. Consequently, when protesters attempted to gather again, they were stopped.
Singh expressed skepticism over the protesters’ insistence on timing, suggesting it indicated ulterior motives. He stated, “If you want to protest, the administration will provide a time suitable for them. If you insist on a specific time, it suggests a plan.” He speculated that the Supreme Court may have shared his concerns when denying permission for the protests.
He remarked that addressing such issues does not require excessive thought. “If we believe we are doing the right thing, we should showcase our good works. These individuals will eventually fade away. Resources should be directed towards real issues rather than wasted on these distractions.”
Regarding claims made by Nazia Khan, Singh stressed that the central government should not overlook the matter and must take action. He acknowledged the popularity of both chief ministers involved, noting that they are working to protect Sanatan Dharma and may face threats as a result. Singh emphasized the importance of taking such threats seriously, highlighting past security concerns faced by leaders in Uttar Pradesh.
Lastly, Singh responded to appeals from traders and small business owners in Delhi, stating that their concerns should be considered, especially during significant festivals like Diwali when business peaks. He warned that any disruptions caused by protests could directly affect the income of these merchants.
