Dehradun, 13 December: The historic Drill Square of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun witnessed a grand and emotional ceremony on Saturday as the 157th Passing Out Parade was held. A total of 559 officer cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army, marking a proud moment filled with tradition, discipline, and patriotism.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the parade and encouraged the newly commissioned officers to move forward on the path of national service with dedication.

The parade reflected the academy’s motto ‘Valour and Wisdom.’ The young officers, having undergone rigorous training, discipline, and courage, marched forward sending a clear message of readiness to face any challenge for the nation’s defence.

In his address, General Upendra Dwivedi stated that receiving a commission in the army is not just the end of training but the beginning of lifelong duty, loyalty, and selfless service to the nation. “Every task is dedicated to the nation” is the greatest identity of a soldier.

He praised the discipline, leadership qualities, and resilience of the young officers and urged them to uphold the glorious traditions of the Indian Army.

The parade saw the commissioning of 525 Indian officer cadets from the 157th Regular Course, 46th Technical Entry Scheme, 140th Technical Graduate Course, 55th Special Commissioned Officers Course, and the Territorial Army Online Entrance Exam 2023 Course.

Among the proud spectators were parents, family members, senior military officers, and many distinguished guests. The most emotional moment was the ‘Last Step’ tradition, where the young officers bid farewell to the academy, stepping forward with a firm resolve to serve the nation.
