Islamabad, 19 November (Daily Kiran). Pakistan’s security forces have killed 38 militants of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during search operations carried out over the past three days in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, described the operations as a major achievement. The President and Prime Minister of Pakistan congratulated the forces for their success.

According to a report in Dawn, ISPR said on Tuesday evening that 38 TTP members were eliminated during four separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted over three days. Significant success came during the operations carried out on 15 and 16 November. In the first operation, security forces took control of a terrorist hideout in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district, where ten TTP members — including the group’s finance handler Alam Mehsud — were killed.
ISPR stated that troops killed five more militants during an operation in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan district. In a separate statement, ISPR confirmed that two more operations were conducted between 16 and 17 November in Bajaur and Bannu districts. These operations resulted in the killing of 11 and 12 militants respectively. The group’s commander Sajjad, also known as Abu Zar, was killed during the Bajaur operation.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both congratulated the security forces. The Prime Minister said, “Under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, our security forces are achieving major success against terrorism.”
Meanwhile, security forces had also killed at least 24 militants in three separate encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan last week.
