
Srikakulam, May 22: The MP Cup 2026 Box Cricket Tournament kicked off with great enthusiasm during the ‘Yeranna Kreeda Utsavam’ aimed at raising awareness about fitness and sports among the youth in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam.
On this occasion, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjirapu urged the youth to contribute to making Srikakulam a fit city.
The event took place at Kargil Park in Srikakulam, where the minister unveiled the tournament’s logo and encouraged a large turnout of players. The atmosphere was charged with excitement for sports and fitness.
Before the tournament’s inauguration, Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, along with Srikakulam MLA Gundu Shankar, Collector-in-charge Farmaan Ahmed Khan, and SP Maheshwar Reddy, played a friendly cricket match as a team. Notably, the minister played cricket for nearly an hour, further boosting the enthusiasm of the players and attendees.
Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the MP Cup Box Cricket Tournament will continue until the 30th of this month. He emphasized that the event aims to inspire youth to engage in physical activities and sports, steering them away from mobile phones.
He stated, “Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ campaign, we should prepare for a ‘Fit Srikakulam’.”
The minister advised the youth to incorporate at least one sport into their daily lives. He highlighted that development is only possible when people are healthy, with sports and exercise playing a crucial role.
Ram Mohan Naidu also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the cricket tournament organized under ‘Yeranna Kreeda Utsavam.’ The event was attended by officials from the revenue and police departments, local representatives, and a large number of residents.
