Young Woman Murdered in Giridih, Body Disposed on Railway Track; Suspects Arrested
A young womans murder in Giridih has led to the arrest of her boyfriend and his wife, who allegedly planned the crime.

Giridih, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic murder case has unfolded in Giridih, Jharkhand, where the body of a young woman was discovered on September 20 near the Chichaki railway station. Police have identified the victim as Lakshmi Kumari, who was reportedly strangled before her body was placed on the tracks to appear as an accident.
The investigation led to the arrest of Lakshmi’s boyfriend, Vinod Mandal, and his wife, Savita Devi. According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dhananjay Ram, Vinod had been in a relationship with Lakshmi for six to seven years, providing her with financial support for her education and other needs.
Recently, Lakshmi requested a lump sum of ₹1.5 lakh from Vinod for her studies at Andhra Pradesh Central University. With no financial assistance from her family, this demand reportedly put pressure on Vinod, prompting him to plot her murder.
On September 19, Vinod lured Lakshmi to a secluded room, where he strangled her while they were asleep. Savita is believed to have assisted him in disposing of the body and staging the scene to look like an accident.
The police found Lakshmi’s body near pole number 335/31 on the railway tracks on September 20. Initial investigations focused on her acquaintances, which eventually led to Vinod. Both suspects are now in custody as the investigation continues.
