ED Raids Former Punjab Ministers Home in Hoshiarpur

The Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid at former minister Sunder Shyam Aroras residence in Hoshiarpur early Monday morning.

Hoshiarpur, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a raid at the residence of Sunder Shyam Arora, a senior Congress leader and former cabinet minister of Punjab, in Hoshiarpur early Monday morning. The operation began around 5 AM, with Arora present at his home during the search.

Reports indicate that officials arrived in three to four vehicles, accompanied by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for security. Details regarding the specific nature of the investigation remain unclear, and an official statement from the ED is awaited.

This is not the first time Arora has faced scrutiny from investigative agencies. Previously, both the Income Tax Department and the Vigilance Bureau have investigated him. While serving as a minister, he was implicated in several corruption and scam allegations.

Notably, Arora was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for allegedly attempting to bribe a vigilance officer with ₹50 lakh. This case is still pending in court, alongside multiple other investigations against him.

The raid has stirred political activity in Hoshiarpur, with the ED team currently examining documents inside the residence. Sources suggest that this action may be related to a money laundering case, but the full scope of the situation will only be clarified once the agency releases more information.
