Noida, April 13: A workers’ protest in Noida escalated dramatically on Monday, creating a tense atmosphere throughout the area. Thousands of workers from various industrial sectors took to the streets, initiating demonstrations at multiple locations.
Major roads experienced significant traffic jams, severely disrupting daily life. The situation remains critical in key industrial zones such as Noida Phase 2, Sector 62, Sector 1, and Sector 63. Long queues of vehicles were observed, making it difficult for people to reach their destinations.
School buses were particularly affected by the congestion, causing delays in getting children home. To manage the situation, authorities deployed a heavy police presence. Additional security measures were implemented in sensitive areas, with police closely monitoring the developments. Barricades were set up in various locations to control traffic.
The protest turned increasingly violent when an unruly crowd targeted a Maruti Nexa service center in Sector 63. Reports indicate that vehicles awaiting service were set ablaze. The mob torched approximately seven two-wheelers and six four-wheelers.
In addition, over a dozen vehicles were damaged. Eyewitnesses reported that the crowd suddenly became uncontrollable, quickly igniting the vehicles. The scene turned chaotic following the incident, prompting the fire department to respond in an attempt to extinguish the flames.
