Women Empowerment Act to Strengthen Democracy, Says Shruti Chaudhary

Chandigarh, April 15: Haryana Cabinet Minister Shruti Chaudhary praised the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’. She described it as a historic decision that will significantly enhance women’s participation in the country’s politics and democracy.

Minister Chaudhary stated that this decision is a major step towards making India a ‘developed nation’. According to her, this is a pivotal moment as the country rapidly progresses, and such decisions lay a strong foundation for the future. Many developed countries have not implemented similar measures, but India has taken a significant step in this direction.

She emphasized the need to increase women’s representation in Parliament and state assemblies. The reservation for women under the Nari Shakti Vandan Act is a landmark move that will strengthen women’s roles in politics. The minister asserted that this step will fortify democracy and ensure proper representation for half of the country’s population. When women are involved in decision-making processes, policies will become more balanced and effective.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, she noted that under his leadership, the country has seen numerous significant social and political reforms. The government has consistently worked towards women’s empowerment, and the impact is now visible on the ground. She referenced the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, stating that it has evolved into a public movement, playing a crucial role in improving the sex ratio in states like Haryana. Previously, serious issues like female foeticide and gender imbalance were prevalent, but significant improvements are now evident.

Shruti Chaudhary also mentioned the government’s efforts towards women’s economic empowerment. She highlighted initiatives like the Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and Ujjwala Yojana, which have provided women not only financial assistance but also ownership and respect within their households.

She noted the increasing participation of women in the armed forces, asserting that daughters of the nation are excelling in every field. She attributed this progress to the changes occurring under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

Additionally, she addressed issues related to increasing the number of parliamentary seats and delimitation, stating that such changes are essential for strengthening democracy and providing equal opportunities for all states.

On the issue of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Minister Shruti Chaudhary asserted that Haryana stands firm on its rights and will not compromise under any circumstances.
