Gandhinagar, August 27: On Thursday, women from various communities and backgrounds tied Rakhi to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar. The Raksha Bandhan ceremony saw participation from representatives of social and charitable organizations across the state.
Women associated with social organizations, charitable institutions, Brahma Kumaris, and groups working for the differently-abled took part in the celebration. They tied Rakhi to CM Patel and prayed for his good health and long life.
During the event, CM Bhupendra Patel welcomed the gathered women and accepted their blessings and good wishes. The program focused on the traditional bond of Raksha Bandhan while highlighting the participation of women from diverse sections of society. According to a statement released after the event, CM Patel reiterated his commitment to the comprehensive development and safety of women throughout Gujarat.
The event was attended by State Education Minister Rivaaba Jadeja, Gandhinagar Mayor Meera Ben Patel, and legislators Ritaben Patel, Nimisha Ben Suthar, and Pailaben Kukarani.
Also present were BJP National Vice President Varshaben Doshi and State BJP Women’s Wing President Anjubhen Vekaria, along with representatives from various sectors and senior government officials.
The participation of women from different organizations and communities made the event special, with the traditional ritual of tying Rakhi and receiving blessings being the main attraction. Raksha Bandhan is traditionally celebrated as a festival honoring the bond between brothers and sisters, where sisters tie Rakhi on their brothers’ wrists as a symbol of love and protection.
This year, the celebration in Gujarat saw women gathering in Gandhinagar from different parts of the state to partake in the festivities.
