Telangana Chief Minister Inspects Development Works at Hyderabads Mir Alam Tank

Hyderabad, August 27: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao conducted an unannounced inspection of ongoing development works at Mir Alam Tank on Thursday. This initiative is part of the state government’s plan to transform the area into a major tourist attraction in Hyderabad.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the works in detail and instructed officials to develop the area with a unique, world-class design and amenities for tourists.

According to the Chief Minister’s office, he assessed the plans presented through a photo exhibition and provided several suggestions to enhance the overall development. He also inspected the construction of a suspension bridge at the tank.

The Chief Minister directed officials to complete all tasks within the stipulated timeline. He emphasized the need to take measures to prevent sewage from entering the tank.

Officials were also instructed to widen the canal to facilitate the easy flow of floodwater into the Musi River. They were encouraged to explore possibilities for water sports and other activities for tourists and to develop the islands within the tank attractively.

He stressed that Mir Alam Tank, located near Hyderabad’s International Airport, should be developed as a magnificent tourist destination.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the development should improve the surrounding environment and infrastructure while providing tourists with a unique experience.

The inspection included participation from the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and municipal officials.

The cable-stayed bridge being constructed at Mir Alam Tank is expected to be the second iconic bridge after the Durga Cheruvu Bridge in the Madhapur IT hub. This ₹430 crore project aims to be completed by the end of 2027. The bridge will be 2.65 kilometers long and 22.2 meters wide, connecting Shastripuram to Chintalmet Road.

Earlier this year, the Chief Minister mentioned that the three island-like areas within Mir Alam Tank would also be beautified to attract more tourists. He suggested developing these islands as beautiful tourist spots similar to Singapore’s ‘Gardens by the Bay,’ featuring special areas for birds and waterfalls.
