New Delhi, September 1 (Kiran News). West Delhi Lions emerged victorious in the thrilling final of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025, defeating Central Delhi Kings by 6 wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Once again, team captain Nitish Rana proved to be the saviour, leading his side to victory with a brilliant unbeaten knock of 79 runs.

Chasing a target of 174, West Delhi Lions had a shaky start as Simarjeet Singh and Arun Pundir picked early wickets, reducing the team to 48/3. Under pressure, captain Rana took charge and stitched a crucial 42-run partnership with Mayank Gusain. Gusain scored 15 runs off 11 balls before falling to Tejas Baroka, but by then Rana had taken firm control of the match.
Rana then found solid support in Ritik Shokeen, and the duo put together an unbeaten partnership to seal the win. Shokeen played a composed knock of 42* from 27 balls, while Rana showed controlled aggression, keeping the scoreboard ticking with boundaries and sixes. Their unbroken stand left the Central Delhi Kings bowlers ineffective and guided the Lions to a memorable title win.
Earlier, batting first, Central Delhi Kings made a remarkable recovery after a poor start to post 173/7 in 20 overs. The team was struggling at 78/6, but a vital 78-run partnership between Yugal Saini and Pranshu Vijayaran turned the game around. Saini played a patient innings of 65 from 48 balls, while Pranshu Vijayaran blasted an unbeaten 50 off just 24 deliveries to finish the innings on a high note.
In bowling, Manan Bhardwaj starred for West Delhi Lions with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 11 runs in 3 overs. Shivank Vashishta also contributed, taking 2 wickets for 12 runs in 2 overs. Captain Nitish Rana made his mark with the ball as well, conceding only 16 runs and taking 1 wicket in his 4 overs.
