Kolkata, May 11: West Bengal is set to witness its first cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee announced that prior to the cabinet meeting, a party gathering will take place, where party workers will extend a warm welcome to the Chief Minister.
Locket Chatterjee expressed, “This is a significant day for BJP workers. The journey from being the leader of the opposition to becoming the Chief Minister has been challenging for all of us, especially for him. This dream has now come true, and our workers are elated. They have sacrificed their homes, time, and much more for this moment.”
She emphasized that the BJP now governs Bengal, having received the blessings of the people. The first cabinet meeting will occur today, preceded by a BJP meeting where Suvendu Adhikari will seek the blessings of the workers.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha commented on the upcoming cabinet meeting, stating, “The government must set a precedent with its actions. We cannot afford to waste any time. We will lead Bengal on the path of progress.”
Additionally, BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar highlighted the need for good governance during the cabinet meeting. He stated that education should be prioritized, industries must be brought in, and overall development is essential. He also stressed the importance of increasing employment opportunities and ensuring the safety of women and all citizens. Maintaining demographic balance in Bengal should be a priority.
It is noteworthy that Suvendu Adhikari took the oath as Chief Minister on May 9, defeating Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur constituency during the 2026 assembly elections. He also won the Nandigram assembly seat. Following this, the BJP elected Suvendu Adhikari as Chief Minister, who will preside over his first cabinet meeting on Monday, where several crucial decisions are anticipated.
