West Bengals Daughters Will No Longer Be Silenced: Dharmendra Pradhan

Kolkata, March 25: Central Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded on Wednesday to the nomination of the mother of a victim from RG Kar as a candidate from Panihati by the BJP. In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that Ratna Debnath’s candidacy represents more than just an electoral bid; it signifies a strong assertion that the daughters of West Bengal will no longer be silenced.

Pradhan emphasized that a mother’s grief has transformed into an unwavering quest for justice. Her voice has become a movement across the state, advocating for justice, respect, and women’s safety. He criticized the repeated failures of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the TMC in ensuring women’s safety, claiming they have eroded public trust. Under their governance, countless voices have gone unheard, each reminding the public of a system that has failed its daughters.

The central minister asserted that this is not merely an election; it is a moral reckoning. The courage of a mother now directly challenges a broken system, evolving into a collective demand for justice, accountability, and lasting change for every daughter in Bengal.

On the other hand, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh released a video questioning the BJP’s move. He acknowledged the respect and sympathy for the mother of the victim who has now become a BJP candidate. However, he claimed that she has lost her own dignity. Ghosh condemned the crime against the victim, noting that Kolkata police arrested the perpetrator within 24 hours. The victim’s parents had called for a CBI investigation, which was conducted.

He pointed out that the CBI upheld the Kolkata police’s findings. The trial court, High Court, and Supreme Court monitored and validated the investigation. However, the parents were still dissatisfied with the CBI’s findings, questioning its affiliation with the BJP. Now, she has become a candidate for the BJP.
