West Bengal Police Unfollows TMC Leaders Following BJPs Victory

Kolkata, May 9: A significant administrative shift has occurred in West Bengal following the recent political transition. The Kolkata Police’s X handle has unfollowed several senior leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) while now following leaders from the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

The BJP achieved a remarkable victory in the West Bengal elections, leading to Suvendu Adhikari taking the oath as the new Chief Minister on Saturday. This change has triggered a rapid transformation in both administrative and political activities within the state.

The shift is evident on social media as well. The official X account of the Kolkata Police has unfollowed notable figures, including former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, among others. In contrast, the account has begun following Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the official handles of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Additionally, the Kolkata Police has also started following the newly elected Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, reflecting the changing power dynamics in the state.

Earlier in the day, both Mamata Banerjee, who led the TMC for 15 years, and CM Suvendu Adhikari updated their social media profiles. Following his oath-taking, Suvendu Adhikari updated his profile to reflect his new position as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee referred to herself in her X bio as the “Chief Minister of West Bengal (15th, 16th, and 17th Assembly)” and noted her role as the founding president of the TMC.
