Kolkata, July 19: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced a significant advancement in the state’s public transport system on Sunday. The state’s Information Technology and Electronics Department has partnered with ‘Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (Bharat Taxi)’ to enhance the digital mobility platform ‘Yatri Saathi’.
Suvendu Adhikari shared this update on the social media platform X, highlighting that the agreement aims to provide passengers with improved and more convenient transport services through technology. This collaboration will establish better coordination between the two platforms, ensuring easier access to services for travelers.
He emphasized that this initiative will focus on ‘co-branding’ and ‘platform interoperability’. By integrating the features of ‘Yatri Saathi’ and ‘Bharat Taxi’, users will enjoy more options and an enhanced experience.
A key objective of this agreement is to safeguard the interests of drivers and promote their welfare. Suvendu Adhikari stated that eligible drivers associated with ‘Yatri Saathi’ will benefit from membership in the cooperative taxi scheme and various welfare programs. This is expected to strengthen the social and economic security of drivers.
He also mentioned plans for future expansion of the project. The initiative is not limited to taxi services; it aims to incorporate bike taxis and auto-rickshaws into this digital platform. This will provide integrated and convenient transport services across different regions of the state.
Suvendu Adhikari remarked that this initiative is a crucial step towards developing a more efficient, inclusive, and reliable transport network in West Bengal through better use of technology.
