West Bengal CM Advocates for Democratic Change Through Elections, Not Protests
West Bengals CM Suvendu Adhikari emphasizes the need for electoral change, rejecting protests akin to those in Bangladesh.

Kolkata, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari recently addressed the state’s health services, declaring the situation stable despite some shortages of doctors. He noted that trauma, emergency, admissions, and ambulance services are functioning smoothly, supported by existing infrastructure and manpower.
In his remarks on democracy, Adhikari stated that any change in the government should occur through elections, not through protests reminiscent of Bangladesh. He emphasized that India is on a progressive path and urged unity for the nation’s benefit.
Reflecting on previous experiences, he acknowledged the challenges posed by doctor shortages but reassured the public that health services are being closely monitored. “Everything is functioning well. There are no refusals for treatment. We are pleased with our progress,” he said.
As the festive season approaches, including Durga Puja and Diwali, Adhikari highlighted the critical role of health services during this time. He mentioned that monitoring will continue, especially as millions participate in the Chhath festival.
Looking ahead, Adhikari discussed plans to expedite the operation of 467 Prime Minister Jan Arogya centers, aiming for a simultaneous inauguration in December. He also outlined initiatives to upgrade health facilities across various blocks, including portable X-ray and ultrasound machines.
The Chief Minister announced the establishment of four new medical colleges, with construction already underway in West Bardhaman. He assured that funding for these projects will be managed through the state budget.
Reiterating his stance on political change, Adhikari stressed that any transition of government or political party must be through elections. He stated, “This is not Bangladesh where one can surround the President’s House or Parliament to effect change. Such actions would face public opposition.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of democracy and the collective responsibility to strengthen the nation, highlighting India’s rise in defense exports and its improved economic standing.
