Weather Alert: NCR Braces for Sudden Change with Yellow Warning and Strong Winds

New Delhi, May 12: A significant shift in weather is expected in the National Capital Region (NCR) today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for May 12. According to the weather department, overcast skies, light rain accompanied by thunder, and strong winds are anticipated throughout the day.

The weather will be particularly active during the afternoon, evening, and night. Wind speeds could reach between 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. The local weather forecast predicts a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius for today. The department has warned of thunderstorms with rain, indicating the possibility of lightning as well.

In the morning, light rain with thunder and wind speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour may occur. Conditions are expected to worsen in the afternoon, with gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and lightning likely. Similar weather conditions may persist into the evening and night, with light rain recorded in several areas.

The weather department has advised residents to remain vigilant. It is recommended to avoid open spaces, trees, and electric poles during this time. Traffic disruptions may occur due to the strong winds and rain. Farmers and construction workers are also urged to exercise caution.

Looking ahead, partial cloud cover and the development of thunderstorms are expected on May 13, with maximum and minimum temperatures projected at 35 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

However, from May 14, the weather is expected to clear up. Temperatures may rise to 37/25 degrees on May 14, 38/26 degrees on May 15, 39/27 degrees on May 16, and 40/27 degrees on May 17. Clear skies are anticipated during these days, with no warnings issued.

Weather experts indicate that this change in NCR’s weather is due to the influence of western disturbances and local meteorological activities. The rain and strong winds are expected to provide relief from the heat, and there may also be an improvement in air quality.
